You could walk for hours through a grove and never see a single one of these giant oranges or grapefruit. It takes a trained eye to see them. Wait a minute!
If they’re as big as you say, what makes them so hard to see? Great question. The answer is very simple. They grow inside the tree up close to the trunk (the first and most nourished - that’s how they get so big), They don’t grow on the outside (visible) branches or out on the end of a branch. So if you want to see them growing, next time you’re in a grove, get up close and look inside the tree.
What you’ll discover is the 3 or 4 fruit out of 100 that ever get big enough to be called Giants … the extraordinary fruit pictured here that surprise and delight the lucky folks you send it to. |
